How does NetRegs Waste Directory work?
The waste directory uses the type of waste you want to dispose of and your postcode and searches a database of licenced or exempt waste disposal and recycling sites in England and Wales to find the nearest sites to you that can take the wastes that you've selected.
How can I register my site with the waste directory?
If you are interested in registering a waste disposal or recycling site with us, please fill in the registration form and we will contact you for further information.
We automatically add businesses that have registered with the Environment Agency when we update the site every three months. Please note, waste carriers cannot register with the waste directory.
How do I search the waste directory?
You can search using the ‘Search the Waste Directory’ box on the homepage and typing your postcode and the type of waste you wish to dispose of or use the 'List of Waste sites'
You will then be asked to select the waste types you need to recycle or dispose of. Select a maximum of 10 and continue to your results.
Search results are displayed with priority given to the closest waste site that can recycle or dispose of the most of your waste types.
You can also display the results on a map or in a comparison chart, as well as finding out more about individual companies and directions to reach them.
You should always contact the company by telephone before taking your waste to them.
Can I search for different types of waste at the same time?
Yes, see 'How do I search the waste directory?'
How can I find out how much it will cost to give my waste to the businesses listed?
The waste directory doesn't list the cost of disposal or recycling for individual businesses. Therefore, you should contact the business you're considering using and get a quote before taking your waste to them.
How do I tell you that there is something wrong with the waste directory?
Please contact us.
I can't find my waste type listed in the waste directory, what can I do?
Please contact us with your query.
How accurate is the information in the waste directory?
The information is checked once a year, and new waste disposal and recycling sites are added every three months.
